Does it matter what partition i put Vista(pre-installed) and XP(recovery disc) for a dual boot ?
Can i leave Vista right were it is and repartition for XP? And are they not both NTFS?

Yes, both Vista and XP are NTFS. WARNING!!! If you repartition your drive you could kill your current install unless you use something like Partition Magic. I just bought a laptop that came with Vista installed. My wife wanted XP (she is more familiar with it) so I installed XP in a separate folder that I called C:WinXP. The Vista install was completely destroyed by the XP install. I have not found a way to dual boot yet but I am sure there is a way and I am working on it (only had a personal copy of Vista for a week now). If I were you, I would just install a Virtual Server and install XP that way. If you do this you will not have to worry about screwing up your Vista install and you will get all the functionality (if you can call it that) of XP with it.
