Hard Disk, as used in computer is a hardware part of the system which gives the support for driving the software programs of the computer. It is one or more nonflexible, firm, stiff or rigid coated platters with material that allows the rapid and high speed magnetic recording of wide array of computer data and processing information. Hard disk are preferred in modern computing owing to its ability to provide faster access to data than any other form of disks such as floppy disks, and are more proficient in storing more information than any other storage device. Because of the rigid nature of the platters, they can be stacked against each other in such away that one hard-disk drive can have rapid random access to more than one platter at a single time of processing. Most of the modern hard disks in use in the windows operating system have between two to eight platters and they as well have an inherent ability to generate an auto or self process that can either initiate a repair or completely repairs any damaged part of the platters of the disk that might have been caused by either virus, computer worm, spyware or adware induced malicious program.
It is the above property of the hard disk that we dwell upon to repair disk component, fix up some errors and speed up the computer performance. Performing this task is such a direct one that any person can just run a disk repair process of the hard disk and fix some computer errors right from the desk.
To start this hard disk error check and fix process, click on "My Computer" icon either on the shortcut on desktop or through the start menu. Right click on the local drive C, which is the hard disk of the computer. Click on property, and then click on tools to display three options which are error checking/check now, defragmentation/defragment now and back up/back up now. Then click on the check now of the error checking, check disk options dialogue box appear with two options: automatically fix file system errors and scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors. Check the boxes against the two options and click start. Checking disk local disk C dialogue box appears demanding Yes/or No, click on yes and then the hard disk is set to start the repair process. To trigger this, just restart the computer and the error checking screen appears. This involves five stages and will take them one after another. This process takes several minutes to conclude as it depends on the size of the hard disk and magnitude of the damaged sectors of the disk. This process runs the five stages and then starts the windows on its own. If the above process is well done, you will really notice an appreciable increase in the speed of your computer which is the ultimate dream of every computer owner and/or operator.
