How do you clean an LCD computer monitor (I have Microsoft Windows XP)? Obviously you can't put water on it...
I get these annoying "water-marks" or droplets that you can see on the LCD screen and it won't come off... I'm afraid of rubbing it off with my fingers since I don't know if I will scratch and damage the screen this way... does anyone else know a more safer yet convenient way to remove these "stains" on the LCD computer screen????
Do not use cleaners containing ammonia, they may damage the screen.

LCD screens are not perfect. In fact, you have to be very careful when cleaning them up. Too much pressure using the wrong kind of cloth will most likely scratch your display and could even burn some of its pixels. So the question is, what is the proper way to clean an LCD screen?
First, you've probably seen some of those expensive LCD cleaning solutions in computer stores right? The good news is that you don't really need these. Mixing up your own cleaning solution is very easy and will actually save you quite a few bucks. You only need 2 ingredients:
70% Isopropyl alcohol (Warning)
Distilled Water
The recipe is easy: Mix the Isopropyl alcohol and distilled water in equal parts (50/50) inside an empty Windex-like bottle. Do not use tap water! Doing so will leave white smears on your screen after cleaning it up because of the dissolved minerals inside the water. When finished mixing, just close the bottle using the "spray" adaptor that comes attached to it.
Next, you will need to find a good, soft piece of microfiber clothto clean your display. Avoid paper tissues at all cost! Using those on your screen would be just like scrubbing sandpaper on it and may scratch it permanently. You wouldn't want to do that right?
Now that we have everything we need, start by turning off your screen. Dampen your piece of soft cloth with your cleaning mixture and then wipe the display gently from top to bottom. Never spray liquid directly onto the LCD. When you're done, wait a few minutes to let your screen dry, and then turn it back on. Voila, you're done! Your screen should now be sparkling clean.
And if you absolutely want to use a product that was specifically made to clean LCD screens, PixelClean makes an excellent LCD cleaner that is quite effective and not too expensive.

"The official word on LCD cleaning in Apple manuals is to use a solution of diluted isopropyl alcohol, no more than a 50% solution. Usually the rubbing alcohol you buy at a drugstore that is either 90% or 98% pure but 98% is pretty hard to get (you don't need it anyway). I mix 1 part water and 1 part 90% isopropyl alcohol, which works out to... um.. something just under a 50% solution.
Be absolutely sure to use a very VERY soft cloth. I use a piece of soft flannel. Do NOT use paper towels or anything more abrasive than an old worn out cotton Tshirt. Absolutely do NOT use windex or anything with ammonia in it, it can etch the screen surface and can cause the plastic to go cloudy. You don't want that to happen!
BTW, there is a commercial cleaning solution called something like Klear-Screen, it's pretty expensive. It is merely a 50% solution of isopropyl alcohol and water. Just like I make, for a fraction of the cost."
