How to install Ubuntu on a seperate partition to my Windows XP?
I have one partition with Windows XP installed, and another partition used for storage. I can easily make however many partitions I need in order to install Ubuntu, but I just need some instructions. I have learned a bit about Swap Space, but I have no idea what to do. Can someone please explain what to do, how many partitions I need, what file systems...etc.

If Swap Space has multiple formats available, you need to use "Ext3". Otherwise try Gparted which can format free space into the Ext3 file system, which is what Ubuntu needs to be installed on.
I believe Ubuntu comes with its own boot manager so that you can select between Linux and Windows.
But what you don't want to do is... a year later change your mind and decide you don't want the extra OS. That's when disk issues start if you try and remove operating systems.
If you decide to do this, it should be permanent.
