1: Go to Start>Control Panel. Once inside Control Panel, choose Sound, Speech and Audio Devices>Sound and Audio Devices>Audio, then choose your default sound playback device. Be sure to check that the volume is not muted.
2: Right-click on My Computer on the desktop, then select "Manage". From the window that opens, look for "Device Manager" in the left side of the pane and check if there's any device with a red or yellow mark, red means the device is disabled and yellow means there are no drivers installed for the device.
