How do I remove Windows XP Pro and install XP Home Ed?
My computer has XP Pro but it is not genuine and so I cannot get updates and would like to install my original Windows Home Edition. I tried putting the CD in and letting it install but it would not accept downgrading. Please help, and I will need details as I have never done this before.
1. Insert Xp Home Edition CD in then follow the instructions.
If that doesn't work because if you have an updated operating system the system would not allow you to overwrite it with something that is not as updated.
2. Put in the CD for XP Home Edition and then reboot Ur system. Windows will give you the option whether you want to boot from the CD of hard disk etc. choose CD-ROM option and follow the steps. Also, if windows doesn't give u the option then you have to shut down the system and start over again and @ windows logo press f10 and if would give you boot options and them choose CD-ROM and follow the steps.
Make sure to back up the data in your system. Windows gives you the option to repair the operating system without disturbing or i should say erasing the file system i.e. your data. but as you are changing the operating system from pro to home I am not sure how effective it would be to do that.
Also, I hope u don't mind me asking why would you want to degrade Ur computer with home edition instead of pro?
I am asking because maybe Ur having some problem that maybe I could help u with so you wont have to degrade it.
