how to use the Nikon D5000 ML-L3 wireless remote control?
How do I use my ML-L3 wireless remote control on my Nikon D5000
Hit the info button so the LCD shows you the current setting info. Then hit it again to be able to change settings there (at least i have to do so on my D40 and D90, so i assume it is necessary for the D5000 too).
You'll see the ISO setting on the upper half of the right side. Right below that one and right above the autofocus mode setting is the shutter release setting. There you can choose between single shot, continuous shooting, self-timer and remote control. Select the latter, and the remote should work.

The shutter release setting is the S in a square (standing for "single shot") on this picture, while the ISO is currently highlighted:

Note that the infrared sensor is the round thing right below the red decoration on the grip, so there should be a direct line of sight from the remote to that sensor.
