Run option on Windows XP. What commands can your type in?
I don't know what I can access through the run menu besides msconfig.exe. Can someone give me a list of directories you can access through 'Run"? And why aren't they listed somewhere (like a drop down menu) so non-computer geeks like me (although I'm a news geek) can know this stuff???
The list of directories you can access through "Run" is specified by the environment variable "PATH". You can access it by right clicking MyComputer->properties, going to the advanced tab and environment variables. Or open a command prompt and type the set command without arguments.
I suspect the reason they don't list those directories in a nice drop down fashion is because non-computer geeks like you shouldn't need to worry about the PATH, because Windows provides nice menus to access all the applications you should want to use.
