How can I upgrade to Windows XP Pro from Home Edition?
I just purchased a Dell Inspiron E1505 with Windows XP Home Edition. I recently learned that the college I am planning on attending only supports Windows XP Professional. Is there a way I can upgrade before my compter ships? If I cannot, can I purchase the software seperately once I recieve my computer? Will I loose all of my information if I switch Windows editions?

Just purchase an upgrade to XP Pro CD, which is A LOT more cheaper than buying the installation version. You can buy it cheap on ebay.
If they havent sent your computer yet, you might be able to change that option. Normally Dell sends you an email when they have shipped your computer. Try calling them and see if you can change your Windows option.
