Does Windows XP tablet PC edition have less functionality than Home or Professional?
As in, are there are any programs that Home or Professional can use that Tablet can't? Does the generic desktop look any different? Are the windows different?
Basically is there anything I, as having only used Windows XP Home and Professional and never Tablet, would be surprised or not used to when first using Tablet?
WinXP Pro Tablet Edition is a "superset" of XP Pro.
It is the full version of XP Pro with "extras" added to allow its use for TabletPC's. Everything you would expect to find in XP Pro is there.
You also find the "TabletPC" stuff, which includes pen & screen drivers, handwriting recognition apps and process servers, a few pen specific apps like MS Journal, ink entry apps like Tablet Input Panel (TIP), etc.
Any applications that can run on any version of XP will run on a TabletPC, and everything will look the same.
Most TPC's have an Introduction to Pen Computing type of app that you can run. It will lead you through a tutorial on how to use the pen, what adjustments can be made to it, etc.
