How to display asian characters on the computer?
I use Windows XP, Internet Explorer.
I don't have the Windows XP disk. And I downloaded Japanese, Chinese Simplified, Chinese Traditional, and Korean language packs from the Microsoft site. But the characters won't show up on sites such as Youtube. Only boxes.
Also when I click View > Encoding > Japanese (Auto-Select), it would just go to Japanese (EUC) and nothing would happen to the boxes. I would keep clicking it, but it would always go to the EUC one.
Am I missing something?
You need to the disc to be able to enable support for non-unicode characters in East Asian languages.
The next best thing if you can't find the disc would be AppLocale. It works most of the time where you would otherwise need to actually switch your language for non-unicode characters:
