Should I install Windows XP Professional sp2 again?
I have Windows Vista, and my computer already came with Windows Vista Home Premium, and I wanted to know if I should install Windows XP, because I bought a Windows XP disk and wanted to know if I should delete Windows Vista and install Windows XP. I know how to do everything like delete Windows Vista because I have already done this. I have already installed Windows XP before, but it was with my friend's Windows XP disk now I have my own, but when I installed Windows XP, I didn't get any sound at all, and I also didn't get any Internet, so I went back to Windows Vista and I got sound and Internet. So my question is, do you think I should try to install Windows XP Professional sp2 again and see if I get sound and Internet or should I stay with Windows Vista Home Premium?
The only reason you had no sound or internet was because XP SP2 didn't have the correct drivers for those devices pre-installed. Vista is newer so it has a larger, and more recent, collection of common drivers. I would do a search, on the manufacturer's website, for those drivers prior to doing the reinstall of XP Pro and then save them onto a removable storage media (flash, CD, floppy, whatever) and then install them after you've finished the installation of windows. You may even be able to call the devices up in Device Manager in Vista and simply note the driver information (provider (aka Manufacturer) and version number and try and get the same from their website.
