What kind of performance increase can i expect moving up from an ATI x1900 xtx to a HD4870?
Im planning to upgrade my processor soon but my specs are,
Pentium 4 3.2 HT
2 Gigs of DDR2
Windows Vista 32bit
Just to give you a rough idea, I looked at both cards on individual reviews (As, obviously, none would do them side by side) but compared the two in 3DMark06 default tests. These were run at 1280x1024 resolution, with no AA and no AF:
The ATI X1900 XTX scored 5828
The Diamond HD4870 scored 17701 (That's nearly a 304% increase)
Do bear in mind, however, that the two test systems were not the same, and your PC isn't either, but that's roughly how much better you would expect it to be.
On a side note, either look at the 45nm Core 2 Duo's, or wait for the new Intel processors in September (At least i think that's when they come out).
