Why Replace A Classic?

I think I am too kind for my own good. As I was leaving a gas station, a guy knocked on my car window and asked me for money for gas. He mentioned that he was trying to get to another state because his mother had died. I felt so bad for him that I went and gave the cashier 10 so he could get just far enough so someone else could help him. He was standing outside and I told him I put $10 for him. He seemed almost angry and gave a curt "thank you" then left. I got a look at his car and it looked more expensive than mine. He had a huge, tricked out jeep. I immediately got the feeling that my kindness had been taken advantage of. Now, I feel like an idiot. I feel like I don't want to help out anyone again. Has something like this ever happened to you?
