Is there a way to determine the original ownership of a Windows XP OS which is registered with Microsoft?
I was gifted by a friend with a used motherboard together with the CD Key of the OS (which I understand was pre-installed). Getting back the PC to work (after assembly), I installed a Windows XP HE with the CD Key. While Microsoft says the "CD Key Appears Valid", it does not confirm to its "genuiness" not until I can answer all the "validation" questions it requires of me (one is to input the information written on the COA Label or to identify/compare the Original OS CD via a set of cds on the microsoft website) which, unfortunately are not with me. Comments / suggestions / answers please...........thank you guys..........

You may do with a crack, but the best solution is to purchase a Home dition, it costs about 100$.
