Vista Ultimate has the best performance.
Vista Basic takes the least amount of memory.
The others editions such as "Home", "Home Premium", and "Business", are meant as budget options for people who want more features than Basic, but don't want to pay for Ultimate.
But I would recommend that you switch to the newly-released Windows 7, which works much better than any of the Vista distros.
