Install XP via DOS + USB DVD Drive?
My laptops harddrive is broken, and the computer wont start up (corrupt file on HD).
I have an MS DOS boot disc and an external USB DVD drive - how would I go about installing the XP disc via DOS??
Ok, the computer wont start up - not at all. All I get is a black screen with file xxx is corrupted.
The built in dvd drive is broken and will not read any discs at all.
The computer does not support booting from USB.
Do I have any other options?
this may or may not work, as dos does not support dvd drives, or usb devices.
try just booting off of the XP cd
