How fast is your SATA 3Gbps Hard Drive?
How many MB/sec are you getting on an Intel Desktop?
Can you test something like a 1GB file from one drive to another and to the same drive?
I do alot of I/O and would like to decide if it's worth it to buy a new computer or just upgrade my I/O capabilities.
I did testing without defragging first with large movie files.
(you can test eSATA if you wish).

I have a p4 HT@ 3.15ghz with 1GB RAM using ASUS P4C800.

I want to upgrade, but get some general ideas on how much the disk will increase.
I have an internal serial ultra ATA 250mb and an external 320mb USB2.0 drive.
Some numbers to benchmark against (no cacheing of files)
USB2.0 to itself: 8-10MB/sec
internal SATA to USB2.0: 19MB/sec
USB2.0 to internal SATA: 26 - 28MB/sec
internal SATA to itself: 14-15MB/sec

Im not going to do any kind of bench marks for you because well im lazy, but I can tell you from personal use I have noticed a substancial difference, especially in good SATA 2 drives with a good SATA 2 controller(and not a junky regular pci controller).
I have quite a few drives of various interfaces spaned out over a few file serve for my HTPCs. I transfer large files (1GB+) all the time, and im not willing to give up my old drives, but it does make a substancial difference.
