How come upgrading my PC's RAM is limited?
I want to upgrade my Gateway mid-tower. However, the RAM's limited upgrade is 512MB. Why is that?
Why is there a limit? Also, is there a way to SAFELY go over the limit? Do I have to install other parts to do so?

if you have told us your computer model it was easier. but anyway yes you can go over it by extending limit! simply with changing your motherboard. as your PC seems very old you can get a very cheap motherboard. I can also recommend you to change your PC to a newer one. you should check that new motherboard fit all your components specially CPU and RAM.
