Any tips for swimming the 100 freestyle?

Tough to answer since we don't know what your best time is and how long you have to do it. A 101 is a good time for a girl....certainly not impossible to make.
You need a good kick and feel for the water. You have to keep your elbows up for the catch (the first part of the pull). You should be able to cross the 25 yd pool in 16 strokes or less. If you take more than 20 strokes going easy and medium, then you won't break it because you don't have enough distance per stroke.
On the turns you need a good streamline and breakout. Average ones will probably prevent you from going that speed unless you're REALLY strong. Practice your streamlines all the time. They take strength as well as skill so practicing on land does help.
One secret to a good turn is to accelerate into the wall. As you get closer you go faster. Get in very close when you turn. It's difficult and scary but helps a lot.
Obviously, good work habits at practice are important. You have to work on your technique as well as pushing yourself every day...and not missing workouts.
My last tip, is to practice your race breathing during practice. For instance, if you want to breath 6, 8, 8, 6 times for each 25 then you need to practice that so you don't have to think about it. Same goes for pacing. You need to practice the race...not so much the effort, but the skill part of it.
