I want to upgrade my IBM PC with RAM and GRAPHICS CARD, PLZ suggest me with the best...?
...compatibility.
i am having (IBM 8175SHQ ThinkCentre A50). With Motherboard (Intel D865GKD ). It has a Processor 3.00 gigahertz Intel Pentium 4,16 kilobyte primary memory cache,1024 kilobyte secondary memory cache. it has 512mb RAM. i want to upgrade it with 1 GB RAM, and 512mb GRAPHICS card. so plz suggest me the best COMPATIBILITY.
For RAM, you can get any PC2700 DDR RAM. If you have an open memory slot, you can get one of these from NewEgg. If you have two slots but none empty, you can get one of these from NewEgg. If you only have one memory slot (unlikely), you’ll need one of these from NewEgg.
For graphics, you have a much harder problem. From what I can find, the ThinkCentre A50 only has PCI (no AGP or PCI-E). The best I could find that will work with your system is the EVGA 6200 256MB. Over the years, I've found NVidia graphics cards to be much more compatible than ATI or other chipset manufacturers and I've found EVGA to be a very good brand of NVidia-based cards. It will be much better than what you have now (if you’re still using the integrated graphics) but will not be remotely as powerful as newer cards that are only AGP or PCI-E. Also, the RAM on the graphics card does not matter as much as other factors. For a good comparison, see Tom’s Hardware although they no longer offer performance comparison on cards as low end as the 6200 (or probably any other PCI card).
Personally, I’d say your money would be better spent buying a new system since yours is as limited as it is (primarily the lack of AGP or PCI-E slot).
