Can I install a Western Digital 500GB EIDE Internal Hard Drive into an HP D530 SFF?
I recently received a HP D530 SFF (Small Form Factor) that was missing the hard drive. Everything else works on the computer. While browsing amazon, I found a pretty good deal on a 500GB EIDE hard drive. The Documentation that I have indicates my computer is Ultra ATA, but I am not sure. Is my computer an Ultra ATA? Is the EIDE hard drive compatible with my computer? if not, what hard drive should I use? On a side note, how would I install the hard drive?
According to google, I have IDE cables (the long flat one)
I want to try to stay away from converters, since it is a slim form factor computer
You can buy an IDE to ATA converter box, a small little box that converts an IDE drive connector into ATA connector. This will not make the IDE drive faster or make it ATA, it will still have IDE speed.
