how do i load windows onto a computer that has no cd rom drive?
My laptop has no cd rom drive. I need to change to windows xp so that my internet will work. How do I do this?
My prepaid internet stick will only operate with windows xp or vista, and I have the disc for xp. I am currently using Windows Embedded CE 6.0 and it is awful!
Hopefully you have an operating system already installed, this will make the process much easier. You'll also need another computer and external hard drive to transfer these files from a computer with Internet to your laptop.
You'll have to download Daemon. This will allow to emulate a CD-ROM drive. Go to http://www.daemon-tools.cc/eng/home and get the free trial under Downloads.
After completing that process, you'll have to download an ISO file of Windows XP. The quickest way will be using a Torrent ( Look here http://www.torrentz.com/search?q=Windows+XP) Make sure you have a valid key, stealing software isn't nice 
Next, once you have an ISO of Windows XP, mount the file using Daemon. This will act as though the CD is in the drive. Now, go to My Computer and select Install or whatever executable file to get it started. The files should copy over before rebooting so the ISO wont be mounted anymore, but install will continue to work.
I'm not 100% this will work with Windows XP, but Vista and Windows 7 does this just fine.
Good luck, and I hope you get it working. Otherwise you'll have to use an external CD-ROM and hope your laptop can boot to USB devices.
