My refurbished computer is having trouble booting?
It's an HP Compaq dc7100 and we bought it refurbished, but it's started randomly turning off sometimes. It hasn't ever displayed an error message, it just shuts off as if it's been unplugged. Now it won't turn on at all, and when we tried to turn it on, it started beeping and the power light flashed red. We made sure that it was plugged in correctly, no faulty powerbars, etc, so I'm pretty sure it's the computer that's the problem. Unfortunately I'm pretty clueless when it comes to the workings of electronics. XD
Anybody have any idea what's wrong with it?
That's tough to diagnose. Could be the power supply. I would suggest pulling out components one by one to see what's wrong, but for this type of thing, if you feel that you may not be able to reassemble the PC, then you may want to contact a repair shop.
