Would a Vista Recovery disc work on for Windows Xp?
I'm trying to repair corrupt files which is stopping me from booting up Windows XP. I do not have any XP Recovery discs but found a vista one was just wondering if that would work in its place?
No, not if you are talking about a bootable hardware diagnostic recovery disk, but if you are referring to the clean install disks it depends on the version of the Vista software and how your motherboard is tattooed. If you registered your product you should be able to contact your computer manufacturer or Microsoft or wherever you came across the software and they will usually send you a set of replacement discs for a small shipping fee. You can also try downloading a crack from u-torrent if you have access to another computer and burn a bootable disk, although I would not recommend it, the option is there if you are that desperate to get back up and running. Also you will find a link on my Computer Help page on how to recover from a black screen in Xp. Have you tried tapping F8 on the startup and entering the Advanced Boot Menu and selecting Last Known Good Configuration?
