Time for a new PC or a Wii?
hey, so here is my PC:
AMD Athlon XP 2000+ 1.6GHz
768MB of RAM
80GB HD
GeForce FX 5200 256MB
Windows XP Home Edition
I know it's not a great computer, but it's not terrible either. Now my question is, do you think it would be wiser to get a wii, or to buy a new up to date PC? Please keep in mind that I don't do much gaming, in fact the most advanced game I play is The Sims 2. However, while the PC does handle The Sims quite well, sometimes I notice how it's struggling to keep up, and also lately the PC has been somewhat sluggish when just running basic things, such as Internet Explorer, Windows Media Player, and Limewire. When I click on an mp3 file, I have to wait for about 30 second for it to actually open up.
But I don't know, somehow I still don't feel there's a need for a new PC. And the Wii looks like a lot of fun. So what's your opinion, is this an outdated PC, or should I stick with it and just get the Wii?
The computer is still good. It may be getting old but it still should have enough power for at least another year or two. The sluggishness could be cause by the need to defragment your computer.
To defragment the computer:
1) open My Computer
2) right click your hard drive (usual Local Disk C:) and go to
Properties
3) go to the Tools tab
4) click Defragment Now
(you might also want to do a disk check which is in the same place)
The lag could also be cause by adware you could have got from Limewire. You can get a good free Anit-Spyware from http://www.ewido.net/en/download/
If you think you can live with your computer for a few years I would recomend getting a Wii. They are really fun and I know tons of people who do not like video games that love them. I think the Wii would be good unless you know you won't play it that much.
