Should I buy the new updated Macbook pro 13 inch 2.4 Ghz or the lenovo Ideapad Y550p?
I need this to replace my 5 year old HP + I may use this as a desktop replacement.
Purely from a spec standpoint, the Lenovo is better- a quad core processor and a 1GB dedicated graphics card. However, those two things drain batter like crazy and the Macbook Pro's GeForce 320M is nothing to sneeze at. No one's been able to benchmark it yet, but the 320M in the MBP won't be too far behind the 240M GT and the extra 6.5 hours of battery life on a charge might be worth the slightly slower specs. Then again, if you're using this as a desktop replacement, that probably doesn't matter to you. In my opinion, laptops do not make good desktop replacements- that 1.6GHz quad core sucks compared to what you can get in a desktop for cheaper. But it's really up to you.
