My PC running very weird. Used two years. should I re-install O.S? PC came with Vista installed, plus O.S.disc?
Please Help! My PC is running very weird. I have used it quite a bit for 2 yrs. and now, after CCleaner, AVG, de-frag, etc., My baby is sick. Should I re-install Vista O.S. that came in disc form with Computer like most. Should I decide to re-install, will I have problems during in-stall and what are these problems? How long does it take?
You haven't mentioned exactly what the weird things that it's doing, but I would run one more program to rule out a hard drive problem. This is a program I use on almost a daily basis to test hard drives: http://download.cnet.com/HDD-Regenerator/3000-2248_4-10330123.html
Download, burn to a CD, set your computer to 'boot to cd 1st' and then boot to the cd. In the program, choose the drive, choose Option 1, at the next screen hit enter (it will start the test at the beginning of the drive). When it finishes, if the drive is good you will have no bad sectors and no bad sectors repaired. If you have bad sectors and they were repaired, run the program two more times, just to make sure that you get a run with no bad sectors found.
If you do get bad sectors that can't be repaired, or you have to run it more than 3 times, throw away the drive and purchase another drive.
If you have backed up your docs and photos etc to an external media, go ahead and reinstall your O/S from the disk. That part doesn't take as long as it will take to install the Microsoft updates.

I wipe my system clean at least once a year and I've just added another drive to my system to install Win 7 on it... when I want to switch back & forth, I will just change the bot order in Bios.
