PC to TV -> VGA or DVI cable?
I'm looking to hook up my Dell 9150 PC (running MCE 2005) - which I have Radeon X600 card - to Samsung HDtv. [This tuner card cannot handle HD so that's not my goal. The goal is the sharpest picture possible. ] I have Hauppauge PVR 150 tuner card. I can choose from 2 possible connections. VGA or DVI. (right now I use the DVI to connect to my 16" monitor, but I can switch to VGA instead, and connect the DVI to Tv.)
My only interest in using the PC on TV is to watch my Media Center tv recordings on the big tv screen. I won't do any web surfing, etc.
So the question: DVI cable is supposedly higher quality connection - but i've read people having compatibility issues. Is this generally the case? Should I use the (lower quality) VGA connection instead?
DVI.
DVI is digital, VGA is analog. Your TV is Digital. Digital to digital hook up results in no loss of video information.
If you use VGA, your computer convert from digital to analog, then your TV convert from analog back to digital. You'll lose some video information in this process. Not to mention you might run into overscan problems.
