How can PC users have a valid argument against mac users if they have never used a mac?
The debate between PC and Mac users seems to get heated more and more every day. I can see the side of an argument for a mac user who switched. But I don't see the argument from a PC user who has never learned to use a mac.
I own both, a Mac and a PC but I was a mac hater for many years. Several years ago, Apple tried to position the Mac as an elite computer so much better than a PC, it was easily worth twice as much, even more...
There was an attitude of smugness from Mac users that was infuriating and encouraged by Apple. It was quite simply obnoxious, and based on very slim marginal advantages. Like for their price, you did get a computer that was a little faster, slightly more reliable but at twice the cost of a PC.
I bought my Mac when Apple first started introducing dual processor Macs (the G4 1GHz Dual), new bugs appeared in the early version of OSX in conjunction with dual processors that made the MAC far less reliable than any PC ever was. I still own my Mac G4 and for about 3 years and thru 3 major updates to the OS, my Mac was crashing frequently, more so that ANY version of Windows ever did.
So while I do see some validity to the quality of Macs and Apple software, I still find it hard to laugh off the Apple commercials which are full of lies. They certainly are humorous and entertaining, but they are full of crap. For them to harp on PCs as if they crash all the time, its just not true and they started running that commercial back when my mac was still crashing a lot.
Now Apple is competing on the low budget market and using Intel chips and I feel there is virtually no difference between Mac and PC except that you can't run Apple's software on a PC.
And as much as it pains me to admit it, Final Cut Pro and DVD Studio Pro are worth the money. They were that much better than anything available on the PC for editing video and building DVDs.
