What does it mean to downgrade from Vista to XP?
I saw this computer: Satellite Pro S300M-EZ2401 Notebook PC - Intel Core 2 Duo Processor T5870 2.0GHz, 802.11a/g/n WLAN, 3GB DDR2-800, 250GB HDD, DVDRW, 14.1" WXGA, Webcam, Vista Business/XP Pro Downgrade/ however I do not understand how a downgrade work, and I would like to be able to use XP as oppose to Vista. Will downgrading the computer affects its performance? Will it be possible to delete vista and stay only with an XP computer? have to pay extra to get it downgraded? Please help as I have to decide this week what computer to purchase. I so do prefer XP. HELP ME PLEASE!!!!!!
You are looking at a notebook that comes with Vista loaded on it and includes the XP Pro discs to downgrade to XP Pro. There's no extra fee involved.
You will have to install the XP Pro system from the supplied media. Your computer will probably run a little better with xp than with vista. Before you do the downgrade, however, make the vista recovery set using the Toshiba utility. That way you'll be able to install vista if you want to later.
Windows computers, right now, come with Vista. Because many people (and most businesses) are reluctant to use Vista and really want XP, manufacturers have made the "downgrade option" available.
As another option, Dell offers small business notebooks (like the vostro) with Vista Business/XP Pro downgrade. The difference is that you get the media for both xp and vista, and the laptop comes installed with XP. Costs $100 more than without xp.
