How do I downgrade a XP PC to Windows 98?
Windows 98 does not recognize the NTFS disk format used by XP PC and therefore the first thing to do is to check that harddisk is in FAT format. To change, disk format from NTFS to FAT, one would have to reformat the harddisk and choose FAT or FAT32 as disk format. Note that this will erase all the program. The other way is to uncompress the harddisk by
1. Open a command prompt by clicking Start->Run and typing cmd then pressing Enter.
2. Type cd and press enter.
3. To uncompress all files on this drive type compact /U /S /I and press enter.
4. To repeat this on other drives, type X: and press enter, where X is the drive letter. Then repeat step 3.
Once the disk format has been converted, Remove the Window XP files and install Win98 using Win98 installation CD. Win98 should be able to see the C: or hard disk drives.
