how much power do i need for my pc? (PSU)?
hi guys, i am building a computer and i need a psu to match:
mobo: ASUS M3N-HT DELUXE/Mempipe - motherboard - ATX - nForce 780a SLI
gpu: xfx nvidia 8800gt 670m 512mb ram sli ( 2 cards)
cpu AMD PHENOM X4 9750
ram: kingston hyper x 4gb 1066mhz (4 cards)
hdd: 7200 rpm 80gb
dvd: basic dvd drive (havnt picked one yet)
and some basic fans
someone told me i needed a 1000w card but i think thats a bit over the top! any suggestions? i really dont want to underdo the power but on the otherhand i am on a budget.

How many fans? That will make a difference. Also, I'm surprised you're going with such a basic hard drive given the rest of the system specs.
At any rate, 750W should be enough, but quality is the most important aspect here. A cheap power supply in a high-end system like this is a huge risk to take. What kind of chassis are you getting? Make sure it is a good chassis, because a poorly-vented chassis will lead to heat issues, which will also kill your system.

Click the View All link under the combo deals and here is a 850W PSU option there that will save you a few bucks. It may be a little more than you wanted to spend, so do your own search. But stick with Antec if you can for the PSU. And don't overlook the necessity of a well-designed chassis for a performance system like you are building.
