Can't get doom3 to load for multiplayer, any suggestions? heres the error i'm getting?

^^^ thats my system info, the vid card is a geforce n6800gt, running on my p4 q6700 quad core, i meet all system requirements easily.
I was able to install the game and play the single player fine, when i went to do multiplayer i had to go download the update which i did, then after the install i received this error.

This is the retail version of the game, i have the actual cds not a pirated version. i checked my video card drivers with nvidia and i have the most recent up-to-date version.
Try uninstalling and then reinstall it agian see if that helps i have the same game i dont remember if i installed the update but mine worked fine ....is it store bought or pirated?
