Will Sony Vegas Pro Permanently Damage My Computer?

my computer is a dual processor of 3.0 ghz, P4, 1gb of memory
will downloading sony vegas pro slow down my computer? If so can I just uninstall and delete sony vegas pro to make my computer return to it's previous state? I just dont want to ruin my computer with a demanding program like sony vegas pro. I am editing hd video in it. Thanks

Your P4 processor isnt a dual core. It is probably hyper threading which means it acts like a dual core. To finish your question - yes if you uninstall sony vegas, then your pc will be back to the original state. I would say your fine to install it. But you probably wouldn't want to run any other programs while vegas is in use.
