Why does my pc keep crashing during windows installl (w/ brand new xp media!)?
Things to work with:
-spare dvdrw, dvdrom, cdrw
-kingston ram, ram out of a dell
-40 gb, 120 gb HDDs
-brand new PS
-Celeron processor, P4 processor
First off I have tried every combination of these things. The only possible thing that I havent tried is switching out the mobo because i dont have an extra plus i dont believe its at fault.
I dont have any expansion cards in. I have nothing on the HDD and I am trying to install xp on one of them. Only 1 of everything is plugged in at a time. At first all that I could get to was about 25% of the installation then a crash. I then changed the processors and I got to 50 % then crash. Finally I changed the battery on the mobo and got to 75%! Now I put the original(p4) processor back in and I get nearly to the end of the installation then a crash. In each case it crashes at the exact spot.(ex. 25% it crashes at drivers installing, 50% after network installs etc)I have put a new layer of arctic 6 on the processor and it runs at 57 c.
You didn't mention whether or not you have a cooling fan or system in place. If not, your hardware is malfunctioning due to excessive heat and not being dissipated away from the RAM, CPU and other cricital areas of your PC.
