Is it advisable to run a desktop pc if its processor's temperature is going 90 degree high?
I m having a PC with P4 processor, 512 MB Ram, 80 GB HDD. It's 6 years old. All of the fans are working properly. I just had it cleaned 2 weeks ago and I also fitted a new heat sink on it but still the temperature of processor is 90 degree high. So should i use it further or not?
If it is 90C, you might have experienced the PC freezing or shutting down. If it is 90F, then nothing to worry. Since you asked this question, I'll assume it is 90C. Thus, check if there is enough thermal paste between the processor and the heat sink. See to it that the heatsink is fastened properly and not loose. Turn on your PC and go to hardware monitor. Check again the temperature reading on the CPU. Your PC will last longer when processor temperature is not going over 50C (celsius not fahrenheit).
