Why is my BIOS and Windows XP bootup so slow all of a sudden?
I had to restart my system after a successful driver update, and suddenly the BIOS takes 1-2 minutes to boot (when it usually takes 3-4 seconds), and Windows XP Pro is taking like 2-3 minutes to start up, too. As an added bonus, my CD drive isn't being detected by windows. The cd drive responds to it's open/close button on the front in BIOS, but when windows starts, the drive will not respond at all, and it won't show up in my computer, or the device manager.
Here are my PC specs:
Model: Dell Optiplex GX260
Ram: 768 Mb
Processor: 2.26 GHz
CD/DVD drive: samsung cdrw dvd sm-332b
My BIOS is up to date. Any help on these would be very appreciated.

You did not say what driver update. The bios can not become slow in itself, it is probably having trouble detecting the connected hardware. This could be a problem with the CD drive. You could try disconnecting the drive to see if this speeds it up.
