i have a pentium 4ht with 2.8 ghz, and 1 gb of ram, and it seems to be running slower than i would like ?
my pentium 4 ht is a dell optiplex gx270, it is a 2.8 ghz, 1 gb of ram. it doesnt seem to be as fast as the ones at my school. one of them was a pentium 4 ht, with 512 mb of ram, and it still seems faster. i dont have that many things on my computer, and both mine and the school's computers have the same startup items on them, same antivirus, everything. any suggestions of making it faster?
both of these computers are windows xp professional sp2
Another option you could do is check your windows task manager(ctrl+alt+del) and click on the "processes" tab. Look at all the programs ending in .exe
these programs will run constantly in your background, slowing the performance of your computer.if you dont need it, close it and try to uninstall it.
You can also do defrags and optimization as well. That should help.
