What is the best processor/mobo combo I can get for under 250$?
I've looked all over for threads asking the same thing but to no avail, as most are a year or older. I would look myself but I really don't have a lot of experience. I'm upgrading from a pentium D and a Intel motherboard from an extremely outdated Optiplex box, so buying just a CPU wouldn't suffice for what I'm looking for. Any type of help is appreciated.

I really wish you could respond to questions, since I can't I'll do it here. I am looking for a gaming PC for things such as BFBC2, MW2, TF2, CS:S and some RTS. I've been eyeing the i3 for awhile but if there is better AMD combo out there I wouldn't want to stop at intel (although I know they're great). ALSO, I may major in Computer science and try my hand at learning game design so that can be kept in mind as well.

Play games or do work (video encoding/3D rendering)?
Games = I'd look for a fast dual core processor probably Core i3 530...won't see a ton more improvement with games utilizing a Core i5 or i7...
Work = I'd look for a Core i5 with 4 cores (although, it won't be cheap and will probably go over the $250 budget)...
