Why my second monitor loses it's signal?
I have a Dell Optiplex 745 USFF (core 2 duo proc, 1 gb of ram). I have a DVI/VGA dongle connected to my cpu. DVI connection is connected to my primary monitor. VGA connection is going to my second monitor (which is an Exorvision ET19F76M). I have applied the latest Intel driver. I can extend my desktop however it will lose the signal completely after a while. I am able to still receive sound out of the second monitor. I've checked all the cables and connections (everything looks great). If anyone needs more specifics I'll gladly give them.
There are several possibilities. Your graphics card may not be able to handle the resolutions of both monitors at once for a long period of time, causing it to overheat. Your power supply also may not have enough power to put out, causing the monitor to eventually just lose signal. The DVI cord could be bad. And finally, the monitor might just be going idle.
