how hard is it to install a video card and hard drive?
ok so i plan to buy a dell optiplex gx745 with a 2.4 ghz core 2 duo, and 2gb of ram. the problem is because it is very inexpensive it comes with an 80 gb hard drive. i want to replace this with a 250gb one and add a video card such as the nvidia 8800gts. i would also like to know if the power supply that comes with this is enough to hold the 8800? is it very hard to install a video card and hard drive?
It's easy to install the disk drive and video card. For the video card, you just put the card in the slot, connect the power then boot windows and install the drivers. Adding a new hard drive is easy too. You just adjust the jumper setting on the first drive to work as a master(dual), make sure it is plugged into the black plug on the ribbon, then set the jumpers on the second hard drive to the slave configuration, and connect it to the remaining plug on the ribbon. From there, windows should recognize the new drive when you boot up.
Also, the Optiplex 745's power supply wont meet the power requirements of the 8800GTS by a long shot.
