The information on a computer can be stored in two ways including Ram and external devices. Examples of external devices are hard drives, CD Rom and USB drives. The primary storage is the Ram while the secondary storage is the external devices.
The Ram is installed inside the system unit. It helps to store the information packets temporarily before they are being sent to the CPU. Due to this fact, the Ram helps to make your computer work faster and more efficient. The secondary storage ensures that your files are backup properly.

Under the General tab, you will find information about the amount of RAM in your computer.

There are many types of RAM including SDR, SDRAM, DDR, SDRRAM, DDR2,DDR3 and etc. Different types of RAM offer different types of speed performance. For example, the DDR 3 RAM offers a faster performance than the DDR 2.
When upgrading the RAM, make sure you take into account the types of program you want to run. For example, if your game requires a 4GB RAM, you must purchase a 4GB RAM so that the game can run smoothly.
Before installing the RAM, you must shut down the computer and disconnect the peripheral devices. Next, you must remove the cover of the tower. To prevent electrostatic shock, you should wear a wrist band. After that, you should remove the cards and components to obtrude your way to the RAM sockets. After you locate the old RAM on the motherboard, you must detach it gently. When installing the RAM, make sure you the bottom of the RAM stick line up with the notches in the motherboard.
