Math help; on a word problem?
I'm graduating two weeks from now;;; that's if i can pass math XP
i'm currently getting A;s in my other subjects but am having an F for math...my weakest subject
i have a word problem i need help with from one of my OLD homework worksheets::
Building a Model Railroad- On an N-gauge model train set, a refrigerator car is 4.5 inches long. An actual refrigerator car is 60 feet long. What is the ratio of the length of the actual refrigerator car to the length of the model refrigerator car?

ratio of the length of the actual refrigerator car to the length of the model refrigerator car
length of the actual refrigerator car/ length of the model refrigerator car
= 60 feet/4.5 inches
you can not take ratio of different units, convert them in same units.
easier is convert feet into inches
Ratio = 60 × 12/4.5
= 720/4.5
= 7200/45
= 800/5
= 160/1
ratio is 160 : 1
or 13.3 feet original : 1 inch model
