Okay, so I have an HP Slim (low-profile), and it has a 7100 GS (gpu) video card. Which isn't the greatest.
I'm looking to upgrade this card...so I can do things like play newer video games; and what now. The only draw back is my computer only has a 160watt power supply (psu). The minimum requirement for the card I have linked down below is 400watts. What the....? How am I going to fit a 400+watts power supply into a low-profile computer (this thing is tiny)? Are their power supplies especially designed for my size of computer (low-profile/sff)? Or will a regular size power supply work just fine?
Anyone have any links to compatible power supplies? 400watts+??? ANY TIPS OR ADVICE WOULD BE GREAT. This is my first SMALL computer, and I don't know a whole lot about the parts.
The power supplies in low-profile computers are specially designed. You cannot get a regular one and have it fit inside the case.
The only thing I can think of would be to either:
1) Contact HP and see if they offer a more powerful PSU for that computer (probably the best solution)
or
2) Get a full size PSU anyway and just have it sit outside the case with the wires going in through where the old PSU was (messy and very haphazard solution)
or
3) Port all the components from your current computer into a new ATX case (expensive though)
