Windows Vista on dell inspiron 9100?
Hi i have a dell inspiron 9100 laptop, specs are as follows
3.2ghz, 1gb ram, radeon 9800 mobility 256mb, 80gb hdd.
I am currently running windows xp professional on it and i was thinking about buying windows vista ultimate for it. I wanted to know whether vista would run slower or if it will be pretty much the same speed, things like internet explorer, media player, word and just day to day usage. I also play some games on it such as, battlefield, need for speed, far cry, unlreal tournament, would most of these games run ok on vista or are they not compatible with vista? And any general comments on which people prefer and why, vista ulitmate vs xp professional.

I personally havn't seen a drop in my computer performance, but if you turn of aero I heard it will give it a significant boots. (I recommend for you at least 1 more gig of ram.) Ultimate actually comes with shit you probably wont even use unless you own your own business. Then I would say go for it, Windows Vista Home is a pretty damn good one, I've been happy with it ever since I got it.
