How much of a difference is there between a 2.0GHz processor and a 2.4GHz?
I'm looking for a laptop and I have a price constraint. I see a lot of Intel t6400 processors which are 2.0 GHz and a lot of P8600 which are 2.4GHz. I work with video editing and gaming a lot and I was wondering if there was that much of a difference between them to make it worth the price difference. I also saw a 2.0GHz Q9000 Quad-core processor and if anyone could tell if thats more useful and why that would be great too.
a 2.4Ghz dual core processor is much faster than a 2.0Ghz dual core processor. X.XGhz is the speed. most processors range from 1.6Ghz to 3.4Ghz. the higher the number the better.
a quad core processor has 4 cores instead of the 2 of a dual core processor. altho the speed is slower than the 2.4Ghz, you have four cores running at 2.0Ghz instead of two at 2.4Ghz. the advantage is in multitasking (running multiple programs at once) as each program can be run by its own core.
i would recommend going with the Quad Core @ 2.0Ghz. however, if the quad core is too much money, go for the 2.4Ghz dual core
