Is XP Pro suitable for Intel Core i7 Processors?
I have built a new PC with an Intel Core i7 and 6GB of RAM. Will Windows XP (64 bit) take full advantage of all the cores and RAM, or do I need to go to Windows 7?
I'd prefer to stay with XP, but I don't want to install everything and then find out its not utilising the full potential of the CPU and RAM and then have to reinstall everything again.
Simple answer is no as it is not designed to leverage from the Turbo mode (steal/trade power between cores) of the multi-core processors and isn't optimized to use multiple cores.
If you really want to leverage the processor you need to go to Windows 7.
XP will utilize the cores but not as efficiently and effectively as Windows 7.
