Plz help, can i install linux on my pc or other OS than that of windows?
I have a common IBM PC with OS XP Pro, and i would like to know if i can install other systems such a linux, ubuntu etc on it? Will it run on a common PC or does it need a specific machine for example like that of MAC system which run mainly on apple systems etc??
My main PC Specs are as follows:
Intel Core2Duo 2.2 Ghz
1 GB RAM DDR2
PCI-E GeForce 8600GT 512 MB

There is also the option to Dual Boot Linux alongside Windows XP. You can install Ubuntu 8.04.1 using Wubi installer within Windows XP.
You keep Windows as it is, Wubi http://wubi-installer.org/ only adds an extra option to boot into Ubuntu. Wubi does not require you to modify the partitions of your PC, or to use a different bootloader, and does not install special drivers.
Wubi keeps most of the files in one folder, and if you do not like it, you can simply uninstall it as any other application.
