hp d530 computer known for bad power supplies, how i do i fix?
dont answer unless you know what im talking about, i just bought this computer and it has the natorious problem where the power supply litterally blows, very very comman for this computer, i know but is there a power supply that will fit in it thats easy to find that wont blow up in a week like it would if i bought an oem replacement?
I just looked up the HP d530 series of desktop's. Seems there are three styles offered. Two are SFF,(Small Form Factor), styles that look like a pizza box laying down, and one style can be set up as a lay-down unit, or stand up as a mini-tower. If you have one of the SFF units:

,you may be stuck with a BTX form factor motherboard. I would suggest taking out the motherboard/processor/ram, harddrive, Cd/Dvd-drives out, and installing them into a decent Mid-tower case. I WOULD suggest this, but I don't know how much of a hassle it's going to be. Don't know for one if it's going to be a direct transfer. Two, BTX cases aren't cheap. The reason I would have suggested it in the first place, is availability of decent, affordable, reliable Psu's,(Power Supply Unit's), the ability to expand your drives,(CD/Dvd), better cooling, which offers longer life of the components inside, and room for a decent dedicated graphics card. The only info I could glean, is that these unit's possibly use an AGP graphics card. Pretty tough to run todays games that require DirectX 10, since at present their are no DirectX 10 AGP graphics cards. (Saw mention on here, that there is rumour of offering DirectX 10 in a AGP style graphics card. Don't know how that's going to work since AGP is way slower than PCI-Express. Version 1.1, or 2.0.) Deductive reasoning suggests buying another motherboard/cpu/ram combo, Psu, and case. In otherwords, another computer. You can buy a XFX nForce 680i LT SLI motherboard with a Core2 Duo-E6750,(Two processor cores running at 2.66GHz each. 4MB's of L2 cache, and a 1333MHz FSB. Smokes!), for $320.00. Or the same mobo, and a Core2 Quad-Q6600,(Four processor cores running at 2.40GHz each, 8MB's of L2 cache, and a 1066MHz FSB)

It looks like it's a Micro-ATX case, so a ATX form factor Psu will fit. I believe this unit has a AGP style graphics slot also. A Psu like this one will be all the power you'll need
